Dizziness & Imbalance

Do you experience episodes of dizziness or imbalance? If you do, you are not alone. Dizziness is the second most common reason someone visits their family doctor. Dizziness symptoms, which may vary from one person to another, may include lightheadedness, feeling off balance, or vertigo (the illusion that your surroundings are moving).

Determining the cause of your dizziness requires a thorough evaluation of your balance system. The team of experts at Capital ENT and Sinus Center, including ENT physicians and audiologists, will perform a comprehensive evaluation of the ear and balance system and coordinate your care with other specialists as necessary, such as cardiology or neurology.

Our physicians use advanced diagnostic imaging tests such as our in-office CT scanner to provide high resolution pictures of the middle ear cavity, or our outpatient MRI scanner to check for abnormalities of the brain that may cause dizziness.

Our audiologists use the latest in sound isolation booth technology to obtain highly accurate hearing testing. This evaluation is critical as many causes of dizziness may also cause hearing loss. They may also perform a test called videonystagmography (VNG), which allows them to evaluate the different parts of the balance system to determine which part is causing the problem.

Capital ENT and Sinus Center offers a broad range of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) services including adult and pediatric ear, nose, and throat care. We specialize in advanced sinus care including balloon sinuplasty, snoring and sleep apnea treatments, outpatient minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery, facial cosmetic, reconstructive surgery, and comprehensive hearing and balance therapies.
